My Rights, My Say

All children have the right to have their views considered when decisions are being made about the support they get with their learning. Children aged 12–15 now have the right to be more involved in decisions that affect them. My Rights, My Say provides: - advice and information about a child’s rights - advocacy to support a child to have their voice heard when talking to their school - independent support to make sure the child’s views are heard in formal process (such as assessments) - support to enhance professional practice in listening to children’s views - legal representations to support a child making a reference to the Additional Support Needs Tribunal.

The Salvesen Mindroom Centre – Children and Young People’s Service

Provides 1:1 advocacy and support for children and young people up to the age of 25 years with learning difficulties.This individualised support can address issues relating to education, health or social care impacting on a child or young person’s wellbeing. Aims to ensure children and young people: are aware of their rights; have a clear voice in decisions regarding their lives; can access help when they need it. Support is tailored to the individual needs of each young person and can include informing them of their rights, supporting them to understand and communicate their needs and ensuring their views are fully considered within decision making processes. Young people do not require a diagnosis to access this support.
