Orkney Child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS)

Provides a service to children and young people between the ages of 0-18 years who are experiencing mental health difficulties or who are at a high degree of risk of developing mental heath problems.  Every school should have a named contact for specialist children and adolescent mental health services.

Orkney Educational Psychology Service

The Educational Psychology Service is part of the Pupil Support sector within Education, Leisure and Housing. The service promotes the development and well-being of children and young people from birth to 24 years, particularly to help them overcome any barriers to learning and self-efficacy. The Orkney Young Carers Service offers confidential support; advice and a listening ear to Young Carers in Orkney and their families. There are free monthly activity sessions for Young Carers to meet, relax and have fun to give them a break from caring.

Outreach Tutoring Service

The Outreach Tutoring Service works with young people who are unable to attend school (due to various additional support needs), as well as their families, school staff and any other relevant agencies that may be involved. The Service can support young people in their academic work and liaise with schools and subject specialists.

PAMIS is a national organisation and provides support to families across Scotland. They have five Family Support Service Directors with responsibility for a particular local area: Tayside, Fife, Grampian, Greater Glasgow & Clyde and South Lanarkshire. PAMIS provides support, workshops, advocacy, newsletters etc. for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, their family and carers and interested professionals. Through the Family Support Service Directors, people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and their family carers can access all PAMIS services and resources. In the areas where there is currently no designated Family Support Service, their engagement is through our national projects and our information service. They are keen to work with all families and will pursue partnerships with all Health and Social Care Boards as part of the PAMIS 10 Year Strategy.

Parent to Parent

A team of support workers help parents on a one to one basis and are available to any family caring for a child with an additional need in the Dundee, Angus and Perth and Kinross area. This may be a physical disability, learning difficulty, sensory difficulties, long-term illness or an emotional difficulty linked to the child's disability. Referrals are allocated to the most appropriate support worker who will make contact with the family as soon as they are able to offer support.
