The Inclusion Support Service – East Renfrewshire

The Inclusive Support Service provides a range of social, leisure and friendship opportunities for children and young people from 5-18 years who have additional support needs. The service aims to meet the needs of all individuals using a child centre approach. The team currently runs three distinct services: school holiday programme; sports and leisure clubs during school term time; and supporting young people to engage in a variety of leisure pursuits in their community.

The Midlothian Assessment and Planning Staged System

Assessment and planning for children under 3 is managed through a co-ordinated approach to the multiagency staged process, with NHS colleagues initially taking a lead. This process, called Early MAPSS, places a very strong emphasis on planning in partnership with the parent/carers with the child at the centre.

The National Autistic Society – Highland Information Service

The National Autistic Society has a specialised information service for parents and carers of a young person in education (and transition from education) in the Highlands. The service can provide one-to-one support, information about local events, and general information about autism. There are regular coffee mornings/information sessions for local families held at The Pines in Inverness, and families can also access a free library about autism which includes sensory items for loan.

The Salvesen Mindroom Centre – Children and Young People’s Service

Provides 1:1 advocacy and support for children and young people up to the age of 25 years with learning difficulties.This individualised support can address issues relating to education, health or social care impacting on a child or young person’s wellbeing. Aims to ensure children and young people: are aware of their rights; have a clear voice in decisions regarding their lives; can access help when they need it. Support is tailored to the individual needs of each young person and can include informing them of their rights, supporting them to understand and communicate their needs and ensuring their views are fully considered within decision making processes. Young people do not require a diagnosis to access this support.
