The Restraint and Seclusion in Schools (Scotland) Act sets out provision for the protection of children and young people’s rights in relation to the use of restraint and seclusion in Scottish schools. Also known as ‘Calum’s Law’, the Act makes it a legal requirement for education providers to inform parents and carers if their child is subject to restraint or seclusion, and to record and report on incidents. It ensures quality assurance on reporting and clear training standards in Scottish schools.
