Before joining Enquire Alison worked as a Senior Policy Officer on the CHANGE project and as the Access to Childcare Fund Lead, the purpose of both was to support childcare solutions that enable more accessible and affordable childcare for families and to help to reduce the barriers parents and carers experience in accessing childcare. Alison has worked for over thirty years for both the third sector and local authorities, and most recently was on secondment to the Scottish Government. Throughout her working life she has been passionate about supporting children and young people , whole family support and understanding the importance of community. Outside of work she loves visiting vintage and antiques fairs and is part of a bookgroup.

Annie has worked with Enquire since 2017, stepping into the role of Advice and Information Manager and then Service Manager in 2022. Annie’s role is to have oversight of the running of Enquire service and the advice and information we provide. Previously Annie has worked in a range of roles in autism and family support organisations, including at the University of Strathclyde working on the delivery of the Scottish Strategy for Autism and as a manager in an outreach support service for autistic adults.

Jennifer is Senior Communications and Engagement Officer with Enquire where she leads on all communications work on behalf of the service. She also works to build relationships and develop partnership working with other organisations supporting parents, carers, professionals and children and young people involved in or navigating the world of additional support for learning. Previously, Jennifer worked within the central Children in Scotland communications team where she was Editor of the member magazine for 10 years. Prior to this, she worked for a leading political communications and events company and in public relations in the private sector.

Jennifer is a Senior Advice and Information Officer at Enquire, overseeing the service’s written resources and leading their development. A qualified librarian, she has worked across heritage library services and previously served as an Advice & Communities Officer for the Kinship Care Advice Service for Scotland. There, she deepened her understanding of the value of accessible support for care-experienced families. She is passionate about helping people make the most of resources that support rights and wellbeing.

Mark is a Senior Advice and Information Officer supporting the delivery and development of Enquire’s advice and information including our helpline, website and outreach programme. Mark has supported children and young people who face challenges to their learning as a mentor and a children’s panel member. He has a Scots law degree and previously worked in a range of roles with Citizens Advice Scotland, including as an In-Court Adviser.

Amy joined Children in Scotland in August 2025 as an Early Years Officer. She brings valuable experience from her previous role as an Early Years Practitioner in a local authority nursery, where she focused on strengthening parental engagement.

Beth joined Enquire as an Advice and Information Officer in June 2021. Previously, Beth worked directly with children and young people with additional support needs in a mainstream educational setting. She also has a PGCert in Mental Health and Education. In her spare time, Beth volunteers with the Scouts, supporting children in her local area to have fun, adventure, and contribute to their community.

Claire Slocombe is Children’s Views Project Officer at Children in Scotland. Her role supports education professionals to better engage with children with complex needs. Prior to this Claire worked as an Attachment Lead Teacher, supporting professionals within education and other services to better understand and respond to pupils needs, developing positive, trusting relationships to improve young people’s experience of school. Claire is also a Panel Member with Children’s Hearing Scotland making legal decisions with and for infants, children and young people. Her role is to ensure that the young person is at the heart of every decision taken. Outside of work Claire enjoys everything food related – cooking, eating, watching food programmes and reading recipe books. This feeds into her love of travel visiting the countries and cultures she discovers through their food.

Ellen joined Enquire as an Advice and Information Officer in January 2024. From August 2025 they have been seconded into a new role as Outreach Officer where they work with other organisations, parent / carer groups, and professionals to increase awareness about children and young people’s rights to additional support for learning at school. Ellen has a background in education, having previously worked as a teacher in Gaelic-medium education. In this role they took a particular interest in the specific experiences and needs of disabled children in bilingual education. They are currently studying for a master’s degree in Gaelic Education with the University of the Highlands & Islands where their research is focused on how schools can better support these children and young people.

Grant develops and maintains Enquire’s websites and suite of databases as well as providing IT support to the Enquire team. Grant has previously worked in various organisations seeking to achieve equality for disabled people in housing, voting, education and health. In addition to his Children in Scotland role, he is CEO of S’up Products Ltd. The company sells the S’up spoon – the spoon for shaky hands – that Grant created as a result of personal need.

Hannah is Enquire’s Information Development Officer, responsible for creating clear accessible resources to help families, practitioners and young people understand their rights and the support available in education. She brings professional experience of working to support children with additional support needs in schools, as well as personal insight as a parent navigating Scotland’s education system for a child with complex needs. Hannah is passionate about helping families like her own feel informed, supported and empowered.

Hannah joined Enquire as an Advice and Information Officer in October 2025. In her role, she provides advice and information on children and young people’s rights to additional support for learning. Before joining Enquire, Hannah supported autistic university students and established and facilitated peer support groups for autistic adults. She holds an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Journalism and a Master’s degree in Autism Studies, where her research explored the injustice of mental health misdiagnosis in autistic adults. Hannah is passionate about ensuring autistic people are at the centre of decisions that affect them and about developing systems that genuinely meet the needs of autistic individuals, particularly in education and healthcare.

Jacqueline is part of Enquire’s communications team leading on all aspects of design with a particular focus on digital and print materials. Jacqueline previously studied architecture for three years and has an HND in photography. She also worked as a freelance photographer for several years and ran her own art and photography gallery.

Lisa started with Enquire as Advice and Information Officer in August 2022. In this role, Lisa offers advice and information on children and young people’s rights to additional support for learning. In her previous role, Lisa worked for Support in Mind Scotland’s Distress Brief Intervention Team, which is based in the Highlands. Lisa provided emotional and practical advice and support to people experiencing distress. Her COSCA qualification in counselling skills came into good use for this job and she enjoys using a person centred approach in her work.

Maisie joined the Enquire team in January 2026 as an Advice and Information Officer. Previously, Maisie has worked at various rights-based organisations such as the Rock Trust and JustRight Scotland. Maisie has experience in supporting the rights of children and young people from working on key access to education campaigns to supporting unaccompanied young people seeking safety in Scotland. Maisie has a master’s in Human Rights and International Relations and is currently working her way through a law conversion degree, with a keen interest on making legal language accessible and inclusive. Outside of work, Maisie can be found chasing after her wee whippet Stanley.

Enquire welcomed Mohit as Communications Officer in the summer of 21. Mohit has a background in communications and a degree in Marketing, which has helped support and lead on Enquire’s communications. His expertise on using digital communications supports us further in reaching parents, carers and professionals in need of advice and information. Mohit has had varied roles over the years, working in the charity sector including Marketing and Projects Officer roles within West of Scotland Racial Equality Council and GalGael.

As Digital Content Officer Robert develops empowering messages and digital resources to champion children’s rights to additional support for learning. Before joining Enquire in 2020, Robert’s background was in is in community development working on a range of social justice projects. Robert is also a Participation and Engagement Associate at Children in Scotland and My Rights, My Say supporting children to have a say in the decisions about their education and support.

Sarah joined Enquire as Advice and Information Officer in August 2024. Sarah has a wealth of experience working with families. Prior to joining the team she worked for Fife Gingerbread, providing holistic family support to help promote wellbeing and opportunities for families. Sarah has also worked within education as a PSA, and she recently completed her HNC in Childhood Practice, working within a forest nursery. Sarah has a particular interest in outdoor learning and using a child centred approach to her work.

Vitalina has a background in employment support, education, and community work, supporting refugees and families to access services and navigate new environments. She is passionate about clear communication, inclusion, and helping people feel informed and confident in the support available to them. Outside of work, Vitalina enjoys spending time with family, travelling, puzzles and games, crafts, and reading.
