Curriculum for Excellence has been introduced to raise standards of learning and teaching for all 3 to 18 year olds. It aims to provide children and young people with the knowledge and skills they need to meet the challenges they face when they leave school.

At the very heart of Curriculum for Excellence is support for children. It recognises that all children need help and support to learn and develop but that some children – for a variety of different reasons – may need additional, targeted help. The Curriculum for Excellence aims to make sure that the education system has the flexibility to meet the learning and support needs of each individual child.
