Multi Sensory Service

One Giant Leap Programme – The Next Generation – Dundee

Summary

Sense Scotland’s One Giant Leap is youth programme supported by teams of volunteers working alongside trained staff.  It aims to improve transitions for young people with communication support needs who are moving from school to adult services.  The group is open to young people two years before and two years after school leaving date. Group members should be comfortable with working in large groups. Funded by the Big Lottery to continue and expand, One Giant Leap is now open in Glasgow and Dundee with groups to be established in Lanarkshire and Ayrshire this year.

A team of support workers help parents on a one to one basis and are available to any family caring for a child with an additional need in the Dundee, Angus and Perth and Kinross area. This may be a physical disability, learning difficulty, sensory difficulties, long-term illness or an emotional difficulty linked to the child's disability. Young Carers Project Dundee Carers Centre

Summary

The Carers’ Centre offers carers a wide range of services, including emotional and practical support, help to get a break from caring, training and advice about welfare rights. Also offers services for young carers. The Carers Centre also offers a support group for parents and carers of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
